Wycombe Swimmer Sets A New British Record
Erin Orford recently competed the South East Regional Championships and in the 200m Free she broke the S4 BRITISH RECORD in a time of 4.15.73 (previously 4.38.89 set in 2018. Congratulations Erin.
Wycombe District Swiming Club has a well established Enable squad at the club which Erin is part of. The squad includes around 25 individuals who have various additional needs. Enable operates under the expert guidance of Patrick and his coaching team. Through Enable Wycombe provides dedicated training sessions at Wycombe Lesiure, but also integrates swimmers into other squads as requried to provide approriate training levels.
All the swimmers are encouraged to compete in competitions. Many of the swimmers are also classified under the Para system of S categories and compete in Para meets. There are 14 Categories in the system, S1-S10 are for physical impairments, S11 to S13 are for vision impairments and S14 for intellectual impairments. The Wycombe team also includes swimmers who swim in specifc events which fall outside the Para categorisation, such as those who compete in the GB Down Syndrome swimming and GB Deaf Swimming competitions.
