Attending a Wycombe Meet

Information for swimmers and spectators attending Wycombe Open Meets

Welcome to our WDSC open meet. Useful information to help you attend the meet is below, but if you do have any queries please let us know. We hope you enjoy the meet.

Parking

We suggest that Officials and Volunteers should use the Park & Ride car park.which has plenty of space charges apply (please check the council website).

Waitrose (next door to the pool) also has its own car park. Competition goers should avoid using this car park - parking is limited to 1.5 hours by ANPR and fines apply.

Access

As you enter the Leisure Centre, please pass through the barriers.  Changing rooms are accessed from the ground floor after the turnstiles please sign in first. Poolside access is flat and accessible changing rooms are available.

Spectator access is up the stairs around the corner from the changing room doors.  A lift is available and wheelchair accessible viewing positions are available at both ends of the gallery.

All swimmers are required to sign in for their races in each session. Sign in desks will be located in or in front of the sports hall. Sign in closes at the start of the warm-up session.

Swimmers are required to sign in for each session by the start of warm up.

Lockers

ALL lockers are secured by padlock rather than coin mechanism. Padlocks should be 40mm combination locks with a 6mm diameter shackle and can be purchased at Reception or you can bring your own. The Leisure Centre will be selling padlocks for Open Meet Swimmers.  Due to the limited number of lockers in the changing rooms, we would ask swimmers, where possible to share lockers; they are reasonably large and have ample room for two swimmers bags.

Poolside

Please note that no large bags may be brought poolside; only small drawstring type bags will be permitted.

We will provide bench seating on the spectator side of the pool and there are accessible ledges on the window side. Additional chairs should not be brought poolside for use by swimmers.

In the interest of hygiene team staff and swimmers must not wear outdoor shoes poolside or in the changing rooms. We do not wish others to be swimming in or walking in what has washed off your shoes.

Changing Room Area

As part of our child protection measures only authorised volunteers, team Managers, coaches and swimmers will be permitted entry into the changing rooms. WDSC will have security at the entrance to the changing area and non-authorised attempts to access the changing room will be blocked.

Please note, this applies to parents and guardians of all swimmers. If swimmers require assistance in changing, please contact us in advance to make arrangements.

The pool has been provided with limited changing cubicles. Please ensure swimmers change quickly to allow other swimmers to use the cubicles.  Swimmers should use the changing rooms as a temporary changing facility and NOT leave bags and clothes in any changing room. WDSC stewards will empty any items left in changing rooms and we cannot be held responsible for items lost that were left in changing rooms; swimmers should use the lockers provided.

Marshalling and Sports Hall

Some of the sports hall courts may be hired for use as marshalling and warm-up areas.  Access to these areas is for swimmers and those with passes only. At most events the public will be utilising the courts nearest the doors and access will only be permitted from poolside.

If mats are provided in the area they are for warm up exercise swimmers should not eat food whilst sitting on the mats.

Spectators

Please note that spectators may not bring their own chairs and should use the seating provided; walkways must be kept clear at all times.

Admission to the spectator area will be done on a first come first served basis. Seats may not be ‘reserved’ and left empty during the day and we would ask spectators not to ‘set-up camp’ on seats.  WDSC reserves the right to empty ‘reserved’ seats if they remain unoccupied for any extended period in order to allow other spectators to sit. Due to the large amount of swimmers, spectator space is limited and we reserve the right to refuse admission if the gallery is overcrowded.

Facilities

Wycombe Leisure Centre has a small cafe, offering sandwiches, snacks and hot drinks: Waitrose located adjacent to the Leisure Centre is also open and has a cafe.
