A 38 strong Berks and South Bucks Masters team headed to the iconic London Aquatic Centre on Sunday 20th November, for the South East round of the national inter-counties championship. Following our Masters trip to Rome for Europeans in the summer holidays, a number of our competitive swimmers headed off on the half-term holiday with their families, so numbers were slightly depleted for Masters Short Course Nationals at Ponds Forge in Sheffield. This year the Masters County Championships was held for the first timeat the new Braywick Leisure Centre in Maidenhead. WDSC were very well represented with 20 swimmers, and the team included a number of our younger masters and seniors, who have not competed for us at Counties before. It was a huge effort from everyone (especially those who were at Europeans only a week before), and the totals were 35 GOLD, 23 SILVER and 5 BRONZE, with 12 new Club records being set. This event was a good ‘warm up’ meet for European Championships in Rome in August, and also a first British Championship event for some. Masters South East Region Short Course Championships Saturday 2nd October 2021, Crawley This is the first Masters meet anyone has been able to compete at since early March 2020, and sadly, the team was smaller than anticipated due to injury and illness. Elowyn has been selected for the 2021-22 Swim England Para- Swimming Talent Programme. Elowyn’s hard work and dedication during and between lockdowns has been rewarded with a place on this year’s Talent programme.
